~Kent Island-Stevensville~

As the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay, Kent Island remains one of Maryland's unique treasures and offers a rich history of its own. Kent Fort, the first English settlement in Maryland, was established in 1631 and is one of the oldest permanent settlements in the United States, coming in third behind Plymouth and Jamestown. Residents of Kent Island pride themselves with this knowledge and cherish the living history that they come in contact with each day.

Residing in the midst of Kent Island lies the historic town of Stevensville, home to artsy shops and cozy restaurants. Visitors to the area can take up temporary residency at hotels like the Kent Manor Inn, built in 1820, to experience some history on their own. The Inn offers both timeless elegance and local charm for the weary traveler.

For the hungry traveler, Kent Island offers some first prize restaurants including the Narrows Restaurant, Harris' Crab House, and Fisherman's Crab Deck, all located in what locals call the Kent Narrows: a narrow strip of Chesapeake Bay that separates the Island from the Shore.
